Hackon’23

• Hackon’23 A Mega inter-collegiate event was conducted on 23rd February 2023 in association with Hand in Hand Academy for social entrepreneurship at College auditorium.
• Around 200 students from 36 colleges have enthusiastically participated and showcased their projects to a panel of judges, who evaluated the projects.
• Teams from DRBCCC Hindu College won the first prize, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram won the second prize & St. Thomas College of Arts & Science won the third prize with cash rewards of Rs 15000/-.

Activities for 2017 -18

Byte IT’18 – One Day Intercollegiate Technical Symposium was conducted on 1st March 2018. Around 100 students from 15 colleges have participated in various events and won cash prizes and certificates. Technical speech was given by Mr. V. Ramkumar Pinglay, IT Consultant, Chennai.

Seminar on “PYTHON Programming” presented by Mr. Franklin & Team, Technical Manager, Tech Tilt Systems Pvt Ltd., Chennai was organized by MCA department on 30-01-2018.

Seminar on “Information Security” presented by Mr. S.P. Vasanth Kumar, Information Security Researcher in INFOZIANT SYSTEMS PVT LTD.,Chennai was organized by MCA department on 25-01-2018.

 Activities for 2015 -16

• 13 students from MCA Department participated in two day National level Technical Symposium – ANVAYA ’15 at Ethiraj college for Women on 10th & 11th September 2015.
• Vinod. V and Devika .R from III MCA won 1st place in DB Shark event organized by Ethiraj College.
• Basker from III MCA won IInd place in Google I event organized by Ethiraj College.
• 8 Students from MCA department participated in various Technical Events : Paper Presentation, Debugging and Quiz organized by Vel’s University on 15th September 2015.

Activities 2014 – 15

• Final year MCA students attended the Personality Development programme by Mr.Sudhir on 4-8-2014 & 5-8-2014.
• Mr.Jawahar .S, Assistant Professor & HOD of MCA department attended a one day seminar on “Research Tools and Techniques in Computer Science” organized by presidency college, Chennai on 5.8.2014.
• 6 students of III MCA attended the Seminar on “The Scope of French Language in Global Market” organized by Shift II French Department of Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science on 12.8.2014.
• Soft Skill Spoken English Programme was conducted by the MCA students on behalf of YRC, ASAN College in Government Higher Secondary School, Pallikaranai for 3 days (11.08.2014 to 13.08.2014). 35 participants attended the programme and prizes were given to the best performers.
• Two final year MCA students attended the seminar on “30 days Challenges” by Mr. Neil Prem, International Director, Future Possibilities, Cambridge,U.K on 27-8-2014 organized by Asan Business School.
• Mr.Jawahar S, Assistant Professor & HOD of MCA department presented a research paper in the “National Conference” on “Emerging innovative technologies” organized by Thiruthangal Nadar college, Chennai on 27.8.2014.
• Four final year MCA students attended the Personality Development programme hosted by the experts from Academic Career Excellence, Chennai from 9.9.2014 to 17.9.2014 organized by MBA Department, Asan Institute of Management, Chennai.
• II MCA and I MCA students participated in various intercollegiate technical events organized by Ethiraj College “ANVANYA-14” on 15.9.2014 & 16.9.2014.

• Ms.Ishwarya and Mr.Kumaresan of III MCA participated in the intercollegiate symposium organized by Measi Institute of Management on 26th September 2012.
• II MCA and III MCA students attended a seminar on “Career in IT” organized by Honeywell IT Solution on 10th October 2012.
• Mr.R.Ravichandran and Ms.Sumi of II MCA have won II prize in “Treasure Hunt” competition conducted by Department of MCA, Loyola College, Chennai on 15th December 2012.
• Ms.Nganban Romia of III MCA have won I prize in pencil sketching competition organized by Malayalam department of Asan Memorial college of arts and science on 17th December 2012.
• An Industrial visit to Sriram Media Private Limited was organized on 19th January 2013.
• Ms.Sumi & Ms.Arthi of II MCA participated in the 26th year celebrations organized by All India Human Rights Association, Chennai on 13th February 2013.
• An Industrial visit to Naresh Technologies, Adyar was organized on 15th February 2013.

One of the major challenges faced by the Management Institutes today is to develop the soft skills such as communication, team building, leadership, attitude and confidence building among the students to make them employable at the end of the programme. To meet this challenge, the institute conducted several courses and workshops on ‘Personality Development and Communication Skills’ during the year. To mention a few,

• Soft Skill Training programme was organized for MBA students by Mr.Sudhir of Zen Training Academy in the month of August
• A One day Workshop on Interview preparation techniques was organized for II MBA students by Mr. Arun, Corporate trainer on 11th January 2013
• A workshop on leadership qualities was conducted by Mr.Murali Shankar, Director Think Future on 2nd February 2013
• Students of MCA & MBA have attended a seminar on “Motivation to GenNext” by Dr.Gunasekaran, Former Registrar, Periyar University organized by MCA Department of Asan Memorial College on 5th February 2013

A majority of the students are well placed in the campus interviews and a good number of them are likely to be absorbed in the company’s in which they are doing their internships. The remaining are interested in setting up of their own business or Pursuing higher education in abroad. Several reputed companies such as Delloite, Indiamart.com., ICICI Prudential, Reliance Life Insurance, Capgemini, Sundaram Finance have visited the campus recently and recruited our students with attractive packages

Faculty Participation

For an institute like ours conducting courses in Management and IT areas which are undergoing rapid changes, it is most critical for the faculty members to update their knowledge and skills. To meet this challenge, faculty members are encouraged to participate in Faculty Development Programmes and seminars organized by reputed institutions.

• Mr.S.Jawahar, HOD of MCA Department presented a technical topic on “Multimedia System in Computer Applications” at University of Madras, Arts and Science constituent college, Nemmeli,Kanchipuram District on 26th February 2013.

Mrs.Y.Beulah Jeba Jaya, Asst.Professor of MCA Department appointed as expert committee member in Computer Science and Information Technology Curriculum development of University of Madras and attended the meeting on 14th March 2013.
